TORONTO - From an Argonauts perspective, the one sure thing about Monday’s CFL expansion draft is that Ricky Ray isn’t going anywhere.
After that, well, your guess is as good as Jim Barker’s.
“We tried to look at what Ottawa might do, but you don’t know if they’re going to go for youth or go for veteran-type guys — you just don’t know what their strategic plan is until they start making their picks,” the Argos general manager said Friday as the countdown to the RedBlacks’ selection day entered its final weekend.
“For us, it’s a difficult situation.”
Of course, Barker faced the same challenge as his counterparts on the other seven non-expansion CFL teams — trying to develop the right protection combination of 10 import players, six Canadians and one quarterback when the secret lists were submitted to the league and the RedBlacks this past Monday.
