TORONTO - The votes are in and with any process that involves subjectivity and sensitivity comes curiosity and downright stupidity.

Like athletes are wont to say in today's sporting culture, it is what it is and Ricky Ray has officially been voted as the Argos' most outstanding player, even though he's only appeared in 10 games in an injury-plagued campaign, getting hurt in two.

His numbers are off the charts, his play in his final regular-season game sublime, his mere presence providing a comfort level on both sides of the ball that make the Argos the team to beat when they play host to the East final on Nov. 17 against the winner of next week's semifinal matchup pitting the host Hamilton Tiger-Cats against the Montreal Alouettes.

Ray has never won the CFL's most outstanding award, but in this strangest of seasons anything is possible, though unlikely given Jon Cornish's season in Calgary.
