Unless there are deep-rooted issues that no one is willing to discuss or even acknowledge, what’s been ailing the Argos of late is a lack of urgency to begin games.

There’s been little energy or execution which, along with some undisciplined football, was put to the backburner when the Argos went on their CFL-record run on the road, a four-week stretch that saw them rebound from deficits and make big plays late to win.

But in the follow-up back-to-back losses to Hamilton, the Argos were exposed, a team that trailed by double digits in each meeting, a team that couldn’t get out of its own way.

On Thanksgiving Monday, veteran corner Pat Watkins watched the game on television, unable to play when real life interfered with his football existence. All is well on the home front, reports Watkins, but not all is well with this Argos group.

“It’s a long season and sometimes you hit the wall,’’ began Watkins on Wednesday as the Argos huddled for a walkthrough.
