Chad Owens wants the ball in his hands as often as possible, the more touches the more opportunities he has to make a play.

When he returned last Friday in Toronto’s loss to the Ticats, Owens played for the first time in a month.

He was kept out of kickoff duties to avoid any unnecessary pounding, a move that may be in effect this Monday when the two teams meet again, this time in Guelph.

“I’m going to follow Scott’s lead and whatever he feels is best for the team,’’ said Owens of Argos head coach Scott Milanovich. “If that means me not doing kickoff returns to take off a few more hits in the game then I’m going to do that.

“Do I want to do it? Of course. I want to touch the ball as much as I can. It’s about winning and that’s where our focus is.”

It’s always about winning, but a productive Owens in the returns gives Toronto a better chance, no matter who is providing the opposition.
