All things considered, Ricky Ray did as well as could possibly be expected on his first full day back, the first extended stretch where Ray threw the football in what would best be described as a simulated game environment.

With plenty of time before the Argos travel to Guelph for their Thanksgiving Day meeting against Hamilton, it’s far too early in the process to anoint Ray as Toronto’s starter.

“Not bad,’’ said Ray following Thursday’s workout. “Just getting used to seeing a defence and guys running around. All in all, I was pretty happy at how (Thursday) went.”

Ray is hoping to play on Monday for the first time since he injured his throwing (right) shoulder in an Aug. 23

game against Calgary.

According to Ray, if he’s able to get through Friday’s and Saturday’s practices, there’s no reason why he won’t start against the Ticats.

“I’ll have a good shot,’’ he said.
