TORONTO - Jalil Carter remembers the day he first met Chris Jones and the impression the Argos’ defensive co-ordinator left on him.

“I was kind of intimated by coach Jones,’’ began Carter on Wednesday as the Argos continued their preparations for Friday night’s visit by Hamilton.

Carter didn’t know what to make of Jones and his style, but he’s grown to appreciate the impact he has had on him and on Toronto’s defence.

If ever there was a moment highlighting Jones’ ability to put players in position to make plays that change games, it was on display late in last week’s win at Edmonton.

With the Esks scrimmaging deep in their own territory, Jones dialed up a corner blitz that saw Pat Watkins record a sack and strip of Kerry Joseph, a turnover the Argos would parlay into a game-winning touchdown.

“Honestly, I think he’s a genius,’’ Carter said of Jones.
