TORONTO - Forget first place — at least for the time being.

For the Toronto Argonauts, this three-game western swing, which opens in Regina on Saturday, is all about lasting impressions.

While the Argos continue to gun for a top-spot finish in the East Division with eight games remaining — they’re currently in the clear by two points — a three-pack of big-test games out west most likely will not make or break that end target.

The pressing need on this road trip — beyond the natural desire for wins — is for the Double Blue to prove they can not only hang with the best in the west, but beat them.

That hasn’t happened yet this season, but it would do wonders for the psyche heading down the stretch and, perhaps more importantly, come playoff time.

In Saskatchewan, the Argos go up against an 8-2 team that hosts, and in all likelihood should compete in year’s Grey Cup.
