Preparation is the buzz word Quinn Porter often uses when describing his football journey.

Whether it was in the NFL or now in the CFL, Porter has understood the importance of being ready through preparation knowing full well any player is one play away from seeing action.

Depending on how Curtis Steele is dealing with injury before kickoff, Porter is expected to make his starting debut in the CFL at running back, a role Steele has assumed in the absence of Chad Kackert (knee).

Steele and Porter competed for the backup role, a job that would go to Steele.

Porter was released, returned and has played well on special teams.

“Being a running back all over again,’’ said Porter. “Now is a time of preparation and perseverance.”

During Toronto’s week of practice, Porter and Jerious Norwood took turns with the first-team offence.

Given his familiarity with the Argos offence, Porter has the leg up on Norwood, who is on the 46-man roster.
