Chris Jones is a perfectionist.
The Argonauts’ defensive coordinator is also a realist. As such, he understands perfection is a football phantom.
He started the season with three linebackers returning from last season’s Grey Cup starting lineup and Jalil Carter in the secondary.
One of those linebackers is now wearing Tiger-Cats’ black and gold; 28 different players have been in on at least one defensive tackle and in the seven games Toronto has played Jones has not once been able to field the same starting lineup.
Which explains, at least in part, how the Eskimos rolled up 33 points on a defence that looked everything from solid as Gibralter one quarter, to a Stoogefest the next.
