Tony Washington is listed on the Argonauts’ roster as an offensive tackle.

But for a second consecutive day Thursday, he was dressed in white and working out at defensive tackle.

“Tony is a good enough athlete to fill in there,” head coach Scott Milanovich said. “At this point, it’s nothing more than an emergency type thing. He’s a tackle and a good one and that’s where he’s going to earn his money for the long haul.”

In the short haul? Well, it’s an interesting experiment.

“It’s fun. I like it,” said Washington. Then, grinning, he added: “It’s fun to deliver some contact rather than wait on it.”

Washington is in his second full season with the Argonauts and Sunday’s game marks the one-year anniversary of his first start. Aug. 18 of last year, he suited up against the Stampeders. He would go on to play every game and play an instrumental role in the Argonauts’ Grey Cup run.
