One game does not an NFL career make.

Or, a CFL one for that matter.

But Alonzo Lawrence is hoping somebody back home in the United States is taking notice.

Just 23 years old, the young cornerback made a remarkable debut Thursday for the Argonauts and was rewarded this week by being named the CFL defensive player of the week.

“He played really well, and on special teams too which a lot of people don’t know. He’s been one of those guys waiting for his chance and when he’s gotten it, he made the most of it,” said head coach Scott Milanovich Tuesday.

Lawrence has been sweating it out on the Argonauts’ practice roster with anonymity’s children.
