His dad is the Godfather of the music genre known as go-go music, a hybrid of funk and soul that is hugely popular in the Washington, D.C., and Virginia area.

Nekos Brown is an Argo, playing this hybrid defensive end/linebacker position that requires a lot of running, being able to come off the edge, drop into coverage, read the backfield.

It’s been a whirlwind for Brown, who never thought his football path would take him to Toronto, where the Argos invited him to camp following a tryout and has impressed so much that Nekos found himself a roster spot.

For Brown, his source of inspiration comes from his dad, Chuck Brown, who passed away last May at the age of 74. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Chuck Brown was also nominated for a Grammy. Ultimately, he would succumb to multiple organ failure. Following a second surgical procedure, Chuck Brown never recovered, holding on to life for two months before he died.
