Ex-Argo Williams dead at 27

CHICAGO - Former Argonauts wide receiver Chandler Williams, most recently affiliated with Tampa Bay of the Arena Football League, has died. He was 27.

The AFL said in a release Sunday that Williams "passed away while participating in a local independent flag football tournament in South Florida." The cause of death was not revealed.

Williams joined the Argos for the 2012 training camp fter signing as a CFL free agent on June 6. He spent four weeks on the club's practice roster, was activated during Weeks 2-8 of the regular season, and was released on Oct. 4.

"He is remembered as a very positive young man who was well liked in the locker room," the Argos said in a statement.
