TORONTO - Hours after being let go by the Toronto Argonauts, offensive star Cory Boyd has made a verbal agreement with the Edmonton Eskimos on Sunday.

The Albertan club has confirmed the transaction in a late evening press release.

"We are very pleased to have reached a verbal agreement with Cory and his agents Gil Scott and Tim Fleiszer tonight," said general manager, Eric Tillman in the release. "Cory will be flying into Edmonton Monday morning, where he will take a physical and sign a new contract with our club.

"We feel that Hugh Charles, Calvin McCarty and Cory Boyd will give us one of the best backfield combinations in our league."

Boyd leads the CFL in rushing yards with 447 on 82 attemppts. He also had two touchdowns and one fumble.
