Barker buoyed by fan turnout

TORONTO - Argos Family Day may have been for the fans, but it was a pretty good pick-me-up for head coach and general manager Jim Barker (below) as well.
“(Saturday) was really a downer, the first day after (the cutdown day) and today was just sky high,” Barker said as he conducted his daily press briefing on the field while a few hundred Argos fans mingled with the players collecting autographs or just talking up their favourite Argos.
Barker figures the Argos drew twice as many to the event this year as they did a year ago.
“The goal is, if we put a good product on the field we’ll have twice as many more again next year.”
At one point during the practice, quarterback B.J. Hall turned to him and said, ‘Coach, this is electric. It’s just so different from the Arena League.’
“It’s important to our players to see this kind of support,” Barker said.
Didn’t hurt the coach any either.
