TORONTO - The “Belly of the Beast” tattoo, complete with a man-eating something or other, that encircles Claude Wroten’s stomach isn’t the only unique quality about the man.

The newcomer to the Argos defensive line also has a gear available to him completely foreign to most 300-pounders and is one of the reasons the former NFL lineman dominated the Argos off-season mini-camp in Florida this past April.

Wroten showed off that speed chasing down Chad Owens during his first workout with the Argos in Toronto.

Told he caught head coach Jim Barker’s eye with that one, Wroten was in complete agreement.

“It did look good,” Wroten said. “I’m going to have to check that out on film.”

Turns out it was also a bit of an eye-opener for Wroten.

“The thing was I normally make that play on the hash but the sideline seemed as if it kept moving and moving away,” Wroten said. “I was like: ‘He’s not going to run out of bounds?’ and then I seen that the field is way wider than the NFL field. I wasn’t used to it but I will be shortly and I’ll just have to put on an extra burst now when I’m running toward the sideline.”

Day 1, Lesson 1. And just like Wroten promised, he’s a quick learner.
