TORONTO - Bob Nicholson isn’t going to ask Rob Ford to return his Argonauts jersey.

The Toronto mayor and his brother, Counc. Doug Ford, told the Toronto Sun in Friday’s editions that they want to bring a National Football League franchise to the city.

Nicholson, the Argos president, presented Ford with an Argos jersey not long after the latter was elected mayor in the fall. But Nicholson does not want it back, even when considering Ford’s NFL dreams.

“No,” Nicholson said with a laugh. “We have appreciated all he has done for football in this city. He is just a fan of football. We have a great respect for each other.

“It’s a story for now and I don’t expect it to last long.”

Ford, who coaches a high school team, and his brother were planning to travel to the Chicago this weekend to watch the Bears/Green Bay Packers playoff game.
