MONTREAL - Danny Brannagan became more than just an experiment on Sunday.

With the Argos leading 27-4, the Burlington native entered the game for the Argonauts in Montreal at 8:18 of the fourth quarter, becoming the first Canadian quarterback to play for the Boatmen in decades.

The Argos believe the most recent Canadian to play quarterback for them was Frank Cosentino, who played in 1969, a stretch of 41 years.

Brannagan, 24, was signed as a free agent on March 15 after he had a stellar CIS career at Queen’s University. He has been on the practice roster for the majority of the season and was activated this week when third-stringer Ken Dorsey suffered a thumb injury.

Brannagan’s first play from scrimmage was an incomplete pass intended for Spencer Watt.
