TORONTO - Ronald Flemons was named the CFLs defensive player of the month yesterday, but all people remember is that he dropped a sure touchdown on the goal line.

Its probably no worse than missing a tackle that results in a score, said Flemons, its just nobody notices that.

They sure noticed his gaffe, which showed up on Yahoo and internet sites and even made it to U.S. national TV. But yesterday the soft-talking, modest Flemons got noticed for all the right reasons.

His month was off the charts as he recorded 22 tackles, four sacks, two pass knockdowns and two fumble recoveries.

I thought about it a lot the day it happened because it was a game-changing play ... but its over; in football you have to put bad plays behind you or you miss the next play, miss a tackle.

And, he didnt miss many. His best play, he says, came against Winnipeg when he and Alex Buzbee stuffed a third-and-one because it helped us win a ball game.

Which was just about the time that injured nose tackle Adriano Belli sauntered over to offer his perspective:

I liked when Ron folded Rickey Ray like a pretzel. It was a piece of art.

Flemons reminded him that happened in August. This award was for September. Joked Belli: The only reason Rons got that award is because Ive been out the last six weeks.

Chad Owens was named special teams player of the month.
