Bruce aims to avenge loss

HAMILTON — Arland Bruce III has been the topic of conversation in Saskatchewan since about midnight last Friday, not long after the Roughriders got through knocking off the Calgary Stampeders.

Still fresh in the minds of the Saskatchewan faithful is the 272-yard, two touchdown tour de force Bruce had against them the last time the two teams met at the end of July.

Bruce doesn’t remember it quite that way. All he remembers is the Ticats came home without a win coming up on the wrong side of a 37-24 score.

“I’m more concerned with us getting wins than anything,” Bruce said. “Stats are great but I’ll take a W first.”

And to hear Bruce tell it, the Tabbies are in a much better position to deliver that this time around than they were in July.

“We just have to take advantage of what they give us,” he said. “Last week DeAndra’ Cobb took advantage (with a 150-yard rushing game). This week if it’s not me, it will be someone else. Ultimately it’s wherever the advantage is, we’ll try to use it.”
