CFLers worried about Moncton grass

MONCTON -- The forecast for rain in the next 48 hours has forced organizers of Touchdown Atlantic to take some outdoor parties inside.

There's no such option for the game itself, and with a 40% chance of rain on Sunday afternoon, the field conditions could be dicey.

The Argonauts and Edmonton Eskimos have been practising on artificial turf at Rocky Stone Field, but they will play on grass in Stade Moncton 2010 Stadium on Sunday.

"You hope it doesn't change the game, but if it's really wet, it will change the game," Argos head coach Jim Barker said. "People are going to slip. Receivers and defensive backs have to be aware of their footing."

It's the only CFL game that will be played on grass this season, as the Eskimos switched to artificial grass this year at Commonwealth Stadium, becoming the last team in the league to do so.
