Calvin Armstrong’s tenure in Toronto was short.

Other than that there was no way to describe it.

A western conference all-star just a year ago at left tackle, Armstrong was released by his second team in less than a week Friday when the Boatmen sent him packing.

For Armstrong it came down to a numbers game according to head coach Jim Barker.

“Once Chris Van Zeyl was OK, we just had too many offensive linemen,” Barker said. “Calvin did a nice job to be able to come in and learn an offence for us. He is a fine young man, but we just did not have enough room to keep that many people.”

Armstrong was cut by the Edmonton Eskimos last Friday and was immediately picked up by the Argos and backed up Shannon Boatman at right tackle the next night in a game against the B.C. Lions.
