Barker barks back

Nothing raises the ire of head coach Jim Barker more than a question concerning his quarterbacks in general and, in particular, Cleo Lemon. There were two incidents prior to the break that highlighted his short fuse and level of frustration.

In Week 2, Barker was asked about the risks of having three QBs with virtually no CFL experience.

"There's a risk, but you can do what you feel in your gut is the right thing to do for your organization or you can yield to what all you media types and people believe should have happened. If this doesn't work, it's on Jim Barker and I'm fully ready to accept that. It wasn't like we had a ton of options. You can talk about, well, Michael Bishop is out there, but those kinds of options are not great options."

A few weeks later, with the team sitting at 3-2, Barker lit into a reporter for questioning whether Lemon was the right guy at the pivotal position.

"We have a rookie quarterback who has won three games," Barker barked. "He has won over half the games he has played in. I think it is kind of a silly question, honestly. The guy has played five games and is 3-2. To have major media people questioning about whether he should be the quarterback, to me, is ignorant."
