No offence to Copeland

He might want the damn ball, but Argonauts slotback Jeremaine Copeland isnt the type to publicly whine if he doesnt get all the looks.

One reason why the savvy veteran was acquired from the Calgary Stampeders during the winter by head coach Jim Barker was because Barker knew Copeland could be patient with an offence that would take time to grow.

Had Copeland been spouting off in the media, undoubtedly, it would have made a negative impact. But Barker knew Copeland was not that kind of player.

I think it is one of the big reasons they did bring me in, Copeland said. I do understand. I am a guy who wants the ball, but I am not going to go crazy if it is not there. I know it takes a while to develop an offence.

A year ago, Copeland led the Canadian Football League with 12 receiving touchdowns and was fifth with 1,235 receiving yards.

Through six games in Double Blue, Copeland has one touchdown and 270 yards in receiving.

When (the offence) comes together, we are going to start clicking on cylinders that nobody is going to be ready for in this league, Copeland said. And I think that we will be one of dominant teams this year.
