Eric Taylor is expected to return to the Argonauts on Wednesday.

On Saturday, he’s expected to line up at defensive tackle as the Argos compensate for Adriano Belli’s injury absence. When head coach Jim Barker met with the media following Tuesday’s practice, he ruled Belli out for Toronto’s rematch against the visiting Als.

Belli is nursing a tender foot that forced the Canadian run stopper to miss last week’s game in Edmonton. Taylor did an admirable job in Belli’s place, playing with a heavy heart following the death of Taylor’s father.

Line in the sand

Barker was all abuzz when he talked about Rob Murphy’s performance from last week. Known for his physical play, Murphy opened holes Barker rarely sees on film.

“He’s back to being his dominant self,’’ praised the coach. “He’s one of our leaders and that’s why he was named one of our team captains. Some of the holes he opened up were unreal.”

Just like Mike

The last Argo to score three touchdowns in a single game was Michael Jenkins in 2001.

Cory Boyd produced a three-touchdown game last week, but is much more versatile a back than Jenkins, who wasn’t much of a receiving threat.

Not only does Boyd lead the league in rushing yards (648 yards), but his four touchdowns lead the Argos.

He also ranks first in the CFL with 718 yards from scrimmage.
