EDMONTON ó Argonauts defensive tackle Eric Taylor made his debut in a Toronto uniform with a heavy heart.

Taylorís father, Willis Taylor, died suddenly on Friday morning in Nashville, an Argos spokesperson said. The elder Taylor, 69, had been on dialysis for a number of years.

Eric Taylor started in place of Adriano Belli, who is nursing a foot injury, on Friday night against the Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium. The Argos acquired Taylor from the Esks in February in a trade that sent receivers Andre Talbot and Brad Smith to Edmonton.

The decision to play was Taylorís. He will travel to Nashville on Saturday to be with his family.

Scratched for Toronto were safety Jeremy Unertl, receiver Chad Lucas and offensive linemen Joe Eppele and Shannon Boatman.
