Kevin Huntley walked by and couldn’t resist.

“Who is this boy right here?” the Argos defensive lineman said, rubbing the head of running back Cory Boyd. “Ladies beware, there is a new man on the loose!”

The happily married Boyd is sporting a new look — gone are his shoulder-length dreadlocks. There’s just enough hair now to cover his head.

“My birthday is game day (Friday in Edmonton) and I decided that I would make the cut, and I feel like a man now,” Boyd said, laughing at Huntley. “I haven’t felt the breeze now for quite some time.”

Boyd got his locks snipped on Tuesday. But it was more than just a fashion statement.

“It was really getting tugged on in games,” Boyd said. “I got a patch ripped out last week. And I thought, ‘You know what? Time to let it go.’ ”

But tugging Boyd’s hair hasn’t helped in bringing him down. Through five weeks, Boyd leads the Canadian Football League with 484 yards rushing, averaging 6.5 yards each time he carries the football.
