From the better-late-than-not-at-all department came the arrival of receiver Reggie McNeal at Argonauts training camp on Tuesday.

McNeal was officially delayed according to the team when his pre-camp physical was flagged for a hand problem.

Asked yesterday what the hold-up was, McNeal said he had a few other irons in the fire and didn’t want to commit to the Argos without first investigating everything thoroughly.

Whatever the reason was, McNeal is in camp now and showed no rust whatsoever as he jumped right into the fray and looked at home on his first day.

“I feel great for the first day,” McNeal said. “I work out and keep it going. I’m not at home just sitting down. Plus, I’m used to 100-degree weather. This weather? I can run all day in this.”

McNeal played in just eight games last season but led the Argos with three receiving touchdowns. His 309 yards receiving were well back of team leader Chad Lucas who had 950 yards.
