A rebuilding of the Argonauts needs to be done on the field, but don’t expect much when free agency opens on Feb. 16.

“We’re not going to be all that active,” general manager Adam Rita said. “There are only one or two players we have targeted, and we will try to get them, but if not, we will move on.

“If you look at the free agents this year, there is nobody that is going to turn your team around (by himself).”

A year ago, Rita was busy, signing offensive linemen Rob Murphy and Dominic Picard. One of his more urgent matters should be re-signing special teams master Dominique Dorsey, who would attract plenty of interest next week.

Some players who would have been hot commodities — including receiver Andy Fantuz of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and defensive end Ricky Foley of the B.C. Lions — won’t be available.

Fantuz will re-sign with the Roughriders and Foley should get a job in the NFL.

Among those who will be available to the highest bidders next Tuesday include Dorsey, former Argos cornerback Byron Parker and Montreal Alouettes receiver Kerry Watkins.
