Argos continue search
Rumours swirl around Greg Marshall

The Argonauts’ search for a head coach is thought to have taken a short hiatus with the CFL’s board of governors meetings in Florida, mostly because team president Bob Nicholson, who has been interviewing candidates with GM Adam Rita, is representing the Argos at the meetings.

But it’s known the Argos asked for and received permission to interview Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive co-ordinator Greg Marshall. But Marshall interviewed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Tuesday, and the Argos can’t wait much longer if they have not yet talked to Marshall.

If the Argos situation is a mess, the Bombers can’t be far behind. Head coach Mike Kelly was fired on Dec. 17, just three days after the Argos canned Bart Andrus. Though Joe Mack only recently was hired as general manager, the Bombers aren’t much further ahead than the Argos. And there are no ownership issues in Winnipeg.

There remains some puzzlement as to why the Argos appear to have left Doug Berry out of their plans. If nothing else, Berry, an experienced CFL head coach, would have hit the ground running.

Can Ricky Ray solve the Toronto Argonauts' quarterback woes in 2012?
