Andre Durie received a nice Christmas present a week early and the Argonauts running back wants to keep giving in 2010.

Plagued by injuries until this past season, Durie, a native of Mississauga, dressed for all 18 games for the Argos and had 1,059 all-purpose yards.

The 28-year-old has spent time at running back, slotback and returning kicks and has done well on special teams.

The Argos thanked him yesterday with a three-year contract that carries Durie through the 2012 season.

“We just want to get things going again after last season (when the Argos were 3-15),” Durie said. “It’s in our blood.”

Durie said he was “a little bit surprised” that coach Bart Andrus was fired on Monday. “But whatever the organization feels we need to get back (to winning), I support.”
