Argos coach says Argh over officiating this year

TORONTO -- Bart Andrus knew there would be plenty of challenges in his first season as a head coach in the Canadian Football League.

But trying to reconcile what the rulebook says with what is or isn't being called during games was not something the Argonauts head coach was counting on.

"I look at the tape and I see what we do and I see what other teams do and what they get away with," Andrus said yesterday.

"It's unbelievable. I'm just saying the stuff is not consistent. Game to game, crew to crew, there isn't consistency. What is a penalty one week is not a penalty the next week."

During a 26-17 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Friday, the Argos had what would have been their first defensive TD negated when Kevin Huntley was flagged for going offside.

Later, the tape appeared to show running back Jamal Robertson rushing for a touchdown, but it was never signalled as one. The Argos scored a major a few plays later when Jeff Johnson caught a one-yard pass from Kerry Joseph.

Can Ricky Ray solve the Toronto Argonauts' quarterback woes in 2012?
  Yes
  No
