The revolving door that has become the Argos' receiving unit has landed on P.K. Sam.

Rookie CFL head coach Bart Andrus isn't sure who will line up for his team when the Argos take to the field next Friday, but he assured one and all that Sam will start at slotback.

Sam made such an impression after he joined the Argos late last season that the NFL's Buffalo Bills signed him in the off-season.

He was cut by Buffalo two weeks ago and yesterday Sam was able to take part in his first practice with the Argos after recovering from a quad injury.

Sam and Kerry Joseph were on the same page on virtually every snap from scrimmage last season, but Sam must now find a comfort level with Cody Pickett, the Argos' new incumbent quarterback.

Andrus likes what Sam brings to an offence that has been in flux all season.

"He understands defences and he's a student of the game," Andrus said.

What further changes await the Argos offence is anyone's guess.

"We're still looking for the answer and we're not afraid to look for the answer,'' Andrus said.

The Argos offence still is searching for ways to find the end zone.

In last week's 36-28 loss to the B.C. Lions, the Argos settled for seven field goals.

Pickett earns praise

Andrus liked what he saw of Pickett, but wishes the Argos produced more touchdowns.

"I thought he played very well," Andrus said. "He made every throw and read each coverage. I was very pleased in the way he played."
