Cody Pickett will start at quarterback for the Argonauts on Friday night at home against the B.C. Lions.

"Let's see if he can't spark us, see if can't move our team a little better and see where it goes from there," Argos head coach Bart Andrus said after practice at a Mississauga high school on Tuesday afternoon. "By no means are we gun-shy about bringing Kerry (Joseph) back. But right now, we are going to start Cody Pickett. I feel good about the decision and I think he will have a fantastic game."

Joseph simply has not been productive for the Argos in 2009. His 56.8% pass completion rate is low among regular starters in the Canadian Football League and he has thrown a league-high 10 interceptions. Joseph, who also struggled through much of last season, has thrown for just seven touchdowns.

Andrus told the quarterbacks of his decision to make the change before practice on Tuesday. The Argos are 2-4 and will be in a must-win situation against B.C.

"I'm here to support Cody and be a positive guy on this team," Joseph said. "It's the business we are in. The guys on the team believe in Cody.

"You roll with it. It's no reason to hang your head."

Pickett made two starts last year, both against the Calgary Stampeders.

"I'll try to put the ball in my playmakers' hands and make good decisions," Pickett said. "I'll just do the best I can."
