BELLI OUT

Defensive tackle Adriano Belli was listed on the 42-man roster at game time but watched in civilian clothes from the Argos bench. Belli suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee last week but head coach Bart Andrus expects Belli to play Friday against the Alouettes in Montreal. Ditto for defensive end Claude Harriott, who missed the game with the flu. Rookies Etienne Legare and Ben Ishola filled in for Belli and Harriott, respectively.

CAN'T DO THAT

Late in the second quarter, the Bombers' Mike Renaud faked a punt. But after scrambling, he decided to punt the ball, and it was caught about 20 yards down field by Winnipeg's Jonathan Hefney. The bizarre play even drew a laugh from Bombers head coach Mike Kelly, although Winnipeg was penalized 15 yards on the play. "That's the good thing about the CFL," Kelly said. "Something's new all the time."

SMART DECISION

The Bombers chose to keep linebacker Barrin Simpson over Zeke Moreno after last season, making Moreno expendable and leading to a trade with Toronto. Though Moreno led the CFL in defensive tackles the past two years, he and everyone else in the league are behind Simpson, who has a CFL-high 42. Moreno has made 20 tackles for the Argos.
