Argonauts head coach Bart Andrus doesn't want Arland Bruce around the Argonauts right now.

Bruce, suspended last week by Andrus for conduct that was deemed unprofessional by Andrus, was not at practice on Tuesday after being told by the team to stay away.

"He's not here because I don't want him here," Andrus said. "I have not made a final decision on him. I hope we can get a resolution sometime this week. The thing I have to be concerned with is coaching the guys who are here."

Andrus had some sharp words for Bruce, who publicly criticized Andrus and quarterback Kerry Joseph after he was told he would not be playing in Winnipeg last week. Andrus was asked if the decision to keep Bruce out of the lineup is difficult considering Bruce has been his most productive receiver.

"I am not so sure he makes our offensive team better," Andrus said.

Andrus agreed with the idea that had Bruce sucked up the suspension and kept his mouth shut, he likely would have been in uniform at practice on Tuesday.

"I would say there is a good possibility of that, yeah, because that is the way a professional responds when they are reprimanded," Andrus said.

Most figure Bruce will be released, but Andrus said he does not think "it is ever too late to apologize or get second chances."

But Bruce's locker at the Argos' training facility on Tuesday was gone, so it could be just a matter of time before he is done in Toronto.

In all likelihood, Cory Rodgers will be activated off the practice roster to play this Saturday against Winnipeg at the Rogers Centre. The Argos probably will add receiver Chad Lucas (who recently was waived by the St. Louis Rams), and Tyler Scott, who suffered a concussion two weeks ago against Calgary, should return.

But another receiver, Andre Talbot, could miss another month after suffering a sprained ankle in the Calgary game. The team had hoped Talbot would play this weekend, but that won't be happening.

Tackle Adriano Belli wants to play despite suffering a knee injury last week that kept him out of practice on Tuesday.
