Mike Bradwell figures he might get just one week to show what he can do with an increased role in the Argonauts' offence and he does not want to blow it.
With receivers Andre Talbot (sprained ankle) and Matt Lambros (knee) out, and with another one, Tyler Scott, trying to overcome a mild concussion, Bradwell likely will get plenty of looks on Friday when the Argos face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
"We all want to be on the field," Bradwell, who has 175 yards on eight catches, said. "I am going to take this opportunity and run with it as long as I can. I have to take a back seat to (Talbot) when he gets back in."
Talbot, who missed the first two games because of a different injury, hopes to return Aug. 1 when the Bombers visit Toronto.
Scott practised yesterday without any problems but is not yet prepared to declare himself ready to play on Friday.
The Argos also are looking at adding non-import receivers Brad Smith and Chad Rempel.
Argos centre Dominic Picard had nothing bad to say about the Blue Bombers, the team that employed him for three seasons before he signed with the Boatmen in February.
"I left for personal reasons, but I have good words about the organization," Picard said. "They were making some changes and I felt I had to go in a different direction. That's the business part, but I really enjoyed my time there.
"It's going to be fun going back to where I started in this league."
Linebacker Zeke Moreno spent the second half of last season with Winnipeg. "This week they are my enemies and I am going to give them my all," Moreno said. "It's not about hate. It's just about moving on."
Moreno, meanwhile, thinks the Argos defence has to be more aggressive as a whole.
"We have to create more turnovers," Moreno said. "We have to get more sacks and get more pressure. (Winnipeg's) offence is struggling and hopefully we can keep them on their heels."
