The Argonauts have welcomed an old member of the Double Blue back into the locker room.
Offensive lineman Jeff Keeping, who played three seasons for Toronto before spending 2008 with the Montreal Alouettes, was re-signed Friday afternoon. The native of Uxbridge, Ont., is signed through 2010.
Keeping, the Argos’ second-round pick in 2005, had knee surgery in October but will be ready when training camp opens in June.
“I’m feeling the best I’ve felt in years,” Keeping said. “I’ve been training, preparing to be ready and come in and compete at a high level.”
Keeping was the Argos’ nominee for most outstanding rookie in 2005. His versatility has allowed him to play on both sides of the ball, at the guard, nose tackle, tight end and fullback positions.
“He will compete on the offensive line and his athleticism should make him a factor in his efforts to help our team,” Argos general manager Adam Rita said. “We’re glad to have Jeff back.”
