Argos running back Tyler Ebell will miss the entire 2008 season after rupturing his left Achilles tendon.
Ebell suffered the injury during practice on Wednesday morning.
"There is not a lot we can do about it," said Argos head coach Rich Stubler, who confirmed the injury and the prognosis to reporters after practice this morning.
Ebell, acquired from the Edmonton Eskimos with wide receiver T.J. Acree in exchange for cornerback Jordan Younger in February, was tabbed as the Argos' starting running back.
Ebell is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow afternoon. He probably will not be back on a football field for 10 months, Stubler said.
Though Dominique Dorsey, Andre Durie and Jeff Johnson could get more carries with Ebell out, it is expected the Argos will trade for a starting running back to fill the hole left by Ebell.
