Damon Allen was surprised when the Argos picked up the option on his contract for the 2008 season, but it will be as much of a shock if the 44-year-old quarterback appears in Double Blue again.

Allen was out of the Argos' plans this past season and that Toronto has kept him in the fold for now probably means they are managing their assets more than anything else.

"I don't know what it means," said Allen. "A lot of it depends on their desire and if they want to talk to me. There is a combination of a lot of things that would have to take place."

Allen wants to continue his legendary career, but new Argos coach Rich Stubler said he will not make a decision until after Christmas whether Allen will do it in Toronto.

"He is very close to my heart. It's something I have to think about," said Stubler, who said he is confident that Michael Bishop will continue growing into the role as the Argos' No. 1 quarterback.
