For the first time in the past three games, the Argonauts' starting quarterback is not in doubt.

Damon Allen will get the nod tomorrow night in Hamilton against the Tiger-Cats in a key East Division game, Argos coach Pinball Clemons said yesterday.

Allen, still trying to get back to 100% after breaking the middle finger on his throwing hand in the season opener, struggled two weeks ago in a start announced on game day against the B.C. Lions. Last week, Allen was introduced as the starter, but never played as Spergon Wynn was at the controls for an ugly loss against the Montreal Alouettes.

But this week, Allen has taken all first-team reps and has pronounced himself ready to go.

"I haven't had to miss a day of practice (this week)," Allen said. "To me, obviously it feels much better than it did last week because I couldn't practise at all (last week) due to the short week and after playing a game."

Wynn took second-team reps yesterday and punter/ kicker Noel Prefontaine was the third quarterback. Eric Crouch is out with an undisclosed injury, leading to a strong possibility that Prefontaine will be the emergency QB tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Argos receivers Tony Miles, Arland Bruce III and R. Jay Soward, all of whom sat out for large chunks of practice Wednesday, took more first-team reps yesterday and could play tomorrow.

Another receiver, Sean Bennett, is out after breaking a finger.
