On a weekend when Toronto buried two victims of violence and suffered five shootings, the public is being urged to take back the streets.

In a "Stop the Violence -- We are Toronto" campaign, Toronto Argonauts coach Michael "Pinball" Clemons will host a live townhall meeting tonight on CITY-TV and invite viewers to voice their concerns and offer solutions.

"What we see today is something that has not happened overnight," Clemons said. "It has been a gradual process."

Community leaders, city leaders like Mayor David Miller and young people who have been thrown head-first into the ring of gunplay will discuss the surge in gun-related crimes.

"We're trying to come up with creative things we should do and can do," Clemons said.

He'll be joined by Argos players who have been touched by violence.

Players like Chuck Winters, Kenny Wheaton, Michael Fletcher and Jeff Johnson share their stories with the Toronto Sun in a special insert in today's paper.

The townhall meeting will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on CITY-TV.
