Riders head coach Corey Chamblin got a new contract on Thursday in Regina, which would've been difficult for the team not to do after he helped pull off one of the biggest accomplishments in franchise history.

The man who guided Saskatchewan to a Grey Cup win on their own turf last November has inked a new deal that will take him through the 2017 season. The timing could not have been better for Chamblin, who was going into the final year of his contract and in February was named CFL coach of the year.

This is the season, however, when we're going to learn just how good of a coach Chamblin is. Not to take away from what he did last year, because he did do an excellent job, but general manager Brendan Taman stacked the roster with talent and deferred parts of players' salaries to 2014 to help keep the squad under the salary cap and load up with key veterans.
