A pair of Saskatchewan Roughriders are facing charges stemming from an alleged incident at a Regina nightclub last month.

Riders defensive back Dwight Anderson, 32, and wide receiver Taj Smith, 29, have both been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly sending a 20-year-old man to hospital during the early-morning hours of Aug. 18.

“As this matter is currently under investigation by Regina City Police, the organization will have no further comment until it’s resolved,” the Roughriders said in a statement Thursday.

According to Global News, Anderson and Smith appeared in court Thursday and were told to refrain from entering bars and consuming drugs and alcohol.

An investigation into the incident led to the CFLers’ arrests on Wednesday.

They’re scheduled to return to court on Oct. 8.
