The Saskatchewan Roughriders cut a pair of former all-stars Tuesday, releasing safety James Patrick and kicker Sandro DeAngelis.

Patrick spent five seasons with the Riders after signing as a free agent in 2008. He was an all-star in 2010 but slumped badly last season, recording just 40 tackles and no interceptions.

DeAngelis, a three-time all-star and Grey Cup winner with the Calgary Stampeders, played just 13 games with the Riders.

Saskatchewan also re-signed import defensive lineman Tearrius George, who would have become an unrestricted free agent on Feb. 15. George had six sacks in 18 games last season, his second with the Riders.

What do you think of the name 'RedBlacks' for the new Ottawa CFL franchise?
  It's awful
  Guess it works
Meh, I don't follow the CFL
  Best name yet
