George Cortez joins Roughriders
By QMI Agency

George Cortez, fired after one season at the helm of the Hamilton Ticats just before Christmas, has landed in Saskatchewan.

Cortez has signed on as offensive co-ordinator with the Roughriders. It is Cortez's second stint with the Riders. He was their offensive line coach in 2006.

Bob Dyce, who was the Roughriders offensive coordinator last season, will remain with the team.

"This was an opportunity that was too good to pass up," Riders head coach Corey Chamblin told reporters Monday. "If it had been any other offensive co-ordinator, it wouldn't have happened. When you have what I believe and have believed since 2007 to be one of the best, if not the best offensive minds in the league, that's something that you have do."

The Riders also confirmed that Mike Sinclair, who was an assistant coach and handled the defensive line last season, has left Saskatchewan to join the Chicago Bears as an assistant defensive line coach.

What do you think of the name 'RedBlacks' for the new Ottawa CFL franchise?
  It's awful
  Guess it works
Meh, I don't follow the CFL
  Best name yet
