Saskatchewan Roughriders slotback Chris Getzlaf parlayed a career season into a contract extension Wednesday.
Terms of the deal were not released but Sportsnet previously reported that it's a three-year extension.
"I'm happy that it got done before the season started," Getzlaf told the Regina Leader-Post. "Had it not, I'm sure that we would have come to some sort of a deal by the start of next season. I'm really happy to be here. Obviously, I'm from here. I love playing in my hometown and I'm really, really excited."
The 29-year-old from Regina started all 18 games for the 'Riders in 2011, catching 60 passes for 1,071 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was the team's nominee for the most outstanding Canadian award.
Getzlaf is going into his fifth season with Saskatchewan. He has 171 career receptions for 2,795 yards and 23 touchdowns.
