Barrin Simpson has landed in Saskatchewan.
The former Winnipeg Blue Bombers middle linebacker signed a contract with the Roughriders on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Simpson requested and received his release from the Bombers just before Christmas. The 32-year-old had 84 tackles, three special teams tackles, two sacks and an interception in 13 games for the Bombers in 2009.
His five missed games were the result of a clash with former Bombers defensive co-ordinator Mark Nelson and head coach Mike Kelly, who wanted to reduce the Mississippi State product's playing time.
It set off a chain of events that included Simpson asking for a trade, the Bombers trying (and failing) to place him on the nine-game injured list, the Blue and Gold banishing him from the locker-room and then the team asking him to come back after Joe Lobendahn got hurt.
