REGINA -- Every day at the end of practice during the countdown to the Western Final, the Saskatchewan Roughriders huddle and one player steps forward to talk.
When Omarr Morgan took his turn, his message was not to tell the team what it was like to get to the Grey Cup and win it like some of the players who were here in 2007.
"He spoke about having to miss that Grey Cup and how it's so important to those who haven't been part of that experience to have the opportunity to win this week so they can share and live the experience of preparing for a championship game and the possibility of winning the Grey Cup," said head coach Ken Miller.
The Riders will celebrate their 100th anniversary next year and have only three Grey Cups to show for it. People here can tell you where they were in 1966, 1989 and 2007. Morgan can tell you where he was in '07 -- "Edmonton."
Morgan didn't have a good year with the Eskimos. And he was homesick for the province where he's now played nine years of his 10-year career.
"I came to really appreciate the players and the province. I have true friends here," he said.
The three-time all-star says he's uncomfortable with some players talking about wanting to win a Grey Cup for him.
"It's not just for me. It's for everybody on this team. I've played awhile, but a guy like Gene Makowsky has played 15 years here and only won one."
Morgan says of all the Riders teams plus that one Eskimo outfit he's played for in his career, this one is the best.
"This is the best group of players. This is the best group I've ever been around."
