It could have been the Ottawa Rough Riders vs. the Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday night at TD Place.

Naturally, that won't be the case.

While the RedBlacks' second straight sellout certainly indicates the name hasn't hurt the club's popularity one bit, there were many who wanted the CFL to return under the old Rough Riders' name.

After protests from Saskatchewan management not to allow the Ottawa franchise to return with its old name, the RedBlacks moniker was chosen but the 'R' logo is a link to history.

"No matter what there's something special about playing Saskatchewan anytime for any team," said OSEG president Jeff Hunt Thursday.

"It's kind of like the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL (because) they draw a crowd where ever they go. In my mind, we're beyond the name thing. We're proud of the RedBlacks name. In retrospect, things worked out for the best.
